Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense is set to end its West End run next month, despite plans to extend the show until 2015.
The show had previously extended its booking period until January 2015 , with the West End production running alongside a UK tour. However the show’s producers have confirmed that while the tour will still go ahead, the production running at London’s Duke of York’s Theatre will close on September 20.
Jeeves and Wooster in Perfect Nonsense, which opened last October, currently stars John Gordon Sinclair and James Lance, both of whom will continue their roles when the show embarks on its tour next month.
In a statement about the show’s early closure, producers Mark Goucher and Mark Rubinstein said: “Until we can find a cast to match the three brilliant Jeeves and Woosters that we have had the honour to present we believe that the play is best served by closing at the Duke of York’s on a high and we look forward to hitting the road in September.”
Jeeves and Wooster, directed by Sean Foley, will begin touring on September 24 in Guildford and is currently scheduled to visit nine other venues across the country, with more dates for 2015 to be announced.
