Tamsin Greig will star in the UK premiere of Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, a musical stage adaption of Pedro Almodovar’s film of the same name.

The show premiered on Broadway in 2010 but is being reimagined for the UK stage, where it runs from December 20 to January 12, 2015 at the Playhouse Theatre.

Greig, who won an Olivier award for her portrayal of Beatrice in Much Ado About Nothing in 2007, will make her musical theatre debut in the production, which will be directed by Bartlett Sher.

Jeffrey Lane and David Yazbek, whose show Dirty Rotten Scoundrels is currently playing at the Savoy Theatre, have written the book, music and lyrics for the show, which will be produced by Howard Panter for Ambassador Theatre Group.

Greig said: “I am excited, thrilled and terrified to have been invited to collaborate with artists of the calibre of Pedro Almodovar, Bart Sher, David Yazbek and Jeffrey Lane to perform in a musical. If it’s true that you are only as good as the company you keep, then I am in very safe hands.”
