Peter James’s Dead Simple adapted for UK tour
Ian Talbot is to direct a stage adaptation of crime writer Peter James’s Dead Simple next year as part of a UK tour.
Adapted by Shaun McKenna, the play will tour to venues including Dartford’s Orchard Theatre, Norwich Theatre Royal, the Belgrade Theatre in Coventry, Edinburgh’s King’s Theatre, Manchester Opera House and the Mayflower Theatre in Southampton.
Further venues, dates and casting have yet to be announced.
The show follows this year’s stage adaptation of another of James’s novels, The Perfect Murder, starring Les Dennis and Claire Goose. This was also directed by Talbot and adapted by McKenna.
Dead Simple is produced by Peter James and Joshua Andrews.
James said: “The success of The Perfect Murder on stage, together with the news that my books are soon to be adapted for television and the recent successful release of my latest novel, have already made 2014 a wonderful year. It is a real thrill now for Josh and I to be launching our second collaboration, an adaptation by the brilliant Shaun McKenna of my first Roy Grace novel, Dead Simple.”
