Niamh Perry is to play Sophie in Mamma Mia! when it runs in Blackpool this summer.

The performer, who was a finalist on the BBC series I’d Do Anything, previously played the role in the West End in 2009.

Her other West End credits include Love Never Dies. Most recently she was seen in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Beautiful Game at the Union Theatre.

The production opens in Blackpool on June 20 and runs until September 14 – the only UK date in the show’s international tour.

In Blackpool, the Mamma Mia! cast will star real-life husband and wife Richard Standing, who plays Sam Carmichael, and Sara Poyzer, who appears as Donna Sheridan.

With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus, the show has a book by Catherine Johnson and is produced by Judy Craymer, Richard East and Ulvaeus for Littlestar in association with Universal, Stage Entertainment and NGM.

The production is directed by Phyllida Lloyd, designed by Mark Thompson, and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast. It has lighting by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce and Bobby Aitken, with musical supervision and arrangements by Martin Koch.
