by -

Comedian Michael McIntyre is to host his own chat show on BBC1.

The six-part series, called The Michael McIntyre Chat Show, will feature celebrity guests, who will be interviewed by the comedian.

It is being made by Open Mike Productions and was commissioned by BBC controller of entertainment commissioning, Mark Linsey.

McIntyre said: “I am overwhelmingly excited about meeting and having fun with my favourite celebrated people on The Michael McIntyre Chat Show”.

BBC1 controller Charlotte Moore described McIntyre as “one of the country’s leading comedians”.

“I’m thrilled he will be bringing his own unique flavour to a brand new chat show for BBC1,” she said.

The series will be broadcast in the spring.
