Jason Manford to lead new UK tour of The Producers
Jason Manford is to star in a new UK tour of musical The Producers.
The show will open in March next year at the Churchill Theatre in Bromley, before touring to venues including the Milton Keynes Theatre and the Cliffs Pavilion. It is currently scheduled to tour until July next year, when it plays at the Bord Gais Theatre in Dublin.
The Producers has music and lyrics by Mel Brooks and a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan.
Manford has previously appeared in the West End production of Sweeney Todd, and will play Leo Bloom in the show, which marks his first UK musical tour.
Manford said: “I’m thrilled to be starring in my favourite musical of all time. Mel Brooks is a genius and I’m so excited to be playing the iconic role he created.”
It will be directed by Matthew White, whose credits include Top Hat, and the musical is produced by Adam Spiegel.
Further casting has yet to be announced.
