Hunger Games stage show planned for purpose-built London theatre

A stage show based on The Hunger Games will be performed at a new purpose-built theatre near Wembley Stadium.

Based on Suzanne Collins’ novels and the subsequent film adaptations, the show will premiere in London in the summer of 2016.

It will be co-produced by Robin de Levita, who is known for producing Dutch musical Soldier of Orange, as well as Anne – a play based on the life of Anne Frank.

De Levita said he was “thrilled” to be working on the project, and added: “The theatre is a fantastic medium to bring the many meaningful layers of Suzanne Collins’ writing to life.”

The “theatrical experience” is part of an expansion of the popular franchise by Lionsgate, which distributes the Hunger Games films.

A spokesman for the company said the show would feature “world-class production values and state-of-the-art technology”, and would provide “a uniquely immersive experience for fans around the world”.

Harvey Goldsmith is producing alongside de Levita, as well as Warren Adams for Triangular Entertainment, Brandon Victor Dixon for WalkRunFly Productions, Robert Harris and Gary Ricci.

Casting and creatives are yet to be announced.
