Gwilym Gibbons named new chief executive of Horsecross Arts
Gwilym Gibbons has been appointed as chief executive of Horsecross Arts, the creative organisation behind the Perth Theatre and Concert Hall.
Gibbons will take over from interim manager Colin McMahon in January, following 18 months of consolidation for the organisation after the resignation of previous CEO Jacqueline McKay “for personal reasons”.
As the director of Shetland Arts where he spent eight years, Gibbons oversaw the development, construction and opening of Mareel, the £14m venue on Lerwick’s waterfront. He has 20 years’ experience working in the arts in Scotland.
He joins Horsecross Arts as it is about to celebrate its 10th anniversary in 2015. Perth Theatre is currently dark as part of a £15 million transformation and creation of a new 225 seat theatre, which is due for completion in spring 2017.
