Friends actor Matthew Perry to star in Sky Arts’ Playhouse Presents season
Former Friends actor Matthew Perry will make his UK TV comedy debut in a programme for Sky Arts’ Playhouse Presents season, which will also feature Jo Brand, Billie Piper, Richard Wilson and Simon Callow.
The season is a series of 30-minute on-off comedies and dramas, with this year’s offerings written by the likes of Polly Stenham and Tim Firth.
Stenham, who penned the play That Face, will make her directorial and screenwriting debut with Foxtrot, starring Piper, Lindsay Duncan and Ben Whishaw, which will be broadcast on May 29.
Perry will star in The Dog Thrower, written by Jon Ronson. It will be broadcast on May 1.
The season also includes Nosferatu in Love, written and directed by Peter Straughan. It will star Mark Strong and will be shown on May 8.
Elsewhere, Jane Horrocks will appear in Stewart Sugg’s The Cruise on May 15, and Ralf Little and Nick Moran have co-written and will direct Space Age, starring Wilson and Callow. This will air on June 5.
Firth’s production is called Timeless and will feature Sylvia Syms and Cara Delevingne. It will be shown on Sky Art on June 19.
Meanwhile, Brand has co-written Damned, in which she will also star alongside Kevin Eldon. The drama will be shown on June 12.
The season also includes Nightshift, starring Daniel Mays and Ashley Walters, which will be aired on May 22.
