Brian Blessed to star opposite daughter in King Lear

Brian Blessed is to play King Lear in a production of Shakespeare’s play in Guildford, which will also star his real-life daughter Rosalind as Goneril.

The play – which marks the first time Blessed has played Lear – will run at the Holy Trinity Church in Guildford from January 17 for 25 performances, ending on February 7, 2015.

The cast also includes Sarah Gobran as Regan, James Sobol Kelly as Gloucester, Noel White as Kent, Ben Ashton as Edmund, Tim Allsop as Oswald, Matt Pinches as Edgar and Richard Neale as Cornwall.

It will be directed by Caroline Devlin, with design by Neil Irish, lighting by Declan Randall and sound by Matt Eaton.

King Lear is a Guildford Shakespeare Company production.
