Watford Palace Theatre has announced its new autumn season, which will feature three premieres of plays as part of a programme inspired by the way digital technology affects people’s lives.

The Ideal World Season, commissioned by the venue’s artistic director Brigid Lamour, will include productions performed in repertory.

It will open with Perfect Match written by Gary Owen about a dating agency that uses people’s online information to pair up couples. It will run from September 19 to October 19.

This is followed by Virgin, written by E.V. Crowe, which is a play about how the introduction of broadband to a rural community creates a conflict between two women. This co-production with theatre company Nabokov runs from September 26 to October 19.

Meanwhile, Override by Stacey Gregg, which looks at how technology can remove imperfections, will run from October 2 to 19.

The season will also feature Daytona by Oliver Cotton starring Maureen Lipman from September 9 to 14, English Touring Theatre and Rose Theatre Kingston’s Ghosts by Henrik Ibsen from November 19 to 23, and pantomime Robin Hood by Andrew Pollard, which runs from December 6 to 28.
