Hampstead Theatre is to stage the world premiere of a new musical about Kinks front man Ray Davies.
Called Sunny Afternoon, the show will “explore the rise to stardom of the Kinks” and will feature the group’s back catalogue.
The show has a book by Joe Penhall, who penned Birthday and Haunted Child for the Royal Court.
It will be directed by Edward Hall, Hampstead’s artistic director, with design by Miriam Buether.
Sunny Afternoon opens at the venue on April 14 and runs until May 24, 2014.
