Rambert to open new South Bank building with free events
Rambert is to mark the opening of its new £19 million home on the South Bank with a series of free events for members of the public.
Visitors will be able to tour the dance company’s new building, watch rehearsals and take part in classes.
The two-week programme, called Rambert Moves, will take place from its opening date on December 2 until December 14.
It will include performances of The Rite of Spring, choreographed by Rambert artistic director Mark Baldwin and danced by the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. There will also be concerts by the Rambert Orchestra, cellist David Cohen and London Philharmonic Orchestra’s young person’s company, Foyle Future Firsts.
Workshops will be available for adults as well as children aged two and above.
Talks and panel discussions will also be held on training and the development of dancers, how music, art and dance are collaborative art forms, and the connection between science and art.
