Jerry Mitchell to direct reading of But I’m a Cheerleader musical

Jerry Mitchell is to direct a London reading of a musical based on the 1999 film But I’m a Cheerleader.

The reading will take place on December 6, with a cast including Hannah Waddingham, Nicolas Colicos and Bronte Barbe.

But I’m a Cheeleader – the Musical has music by Andrew Abrams and book and lyrics by Bill Augustin.

The film of But I’m a Cheerleader had a story by Jamie Babbit, with a screenplay by Brian Wayne Peterson. Babbit also directed the film.

But I’m a Cheerleader – the Musical is produced by Crow and Elk Productions with special arrangement with Lionsgate. It is also produced by Adam Bialow, who is Lionsgate’s consultant for theatrical stage productions.

The London reading has musical direction by Richard John.

Mitchell’s recent credits include the choreography for Kinky Boots on Broadway. He will also direct and choreograph next year’s production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
