War Horse author’s The Butterfly Lion to tour UK in stage production
A stage adaptation of The Butterfly Lion, a book by War Horse writer Michael Morpurgo, is to tour the UK this autumn.
The production will open at the Mercury Theatre Colchester before visiting other venues including the Arts Theatre in Cambridge and the Theatre Royal in Nottingham. It will end its run at the Theatre Royal Brighton.
Gwen Taylor, who has most recently played Ann Foster in ITV soap Coronation Street, will appear in the show.
Adapted and directed by Daniel Buckroyd, the production will feature puppetry, directed by Sue Pycroft.
Movement direction is by Matthew Cullum, design is by Juliet Shillingford and lighting is by Mark Dymock.
Carlton Edwards is the show’s composer and Adam McCready is its sound designer.
The Butterfly Lion tour will run from August 30 to November 16.
It is being co-produced by Mercury Theatre Colchester and Bill Kenwright.
