Holland Festival appoints Ruth Mackenzie as new artistic director
Ruth Mackenzie has been appointed as the new artistic director of Holland Festival.
Mackenzie, who was director of the 2012 Cultural Olympiad, will take up her role in early 2014 in preparation for her first festival in June 2015.
She takes over from Pierre Audi, who will step down following the 2014 festival after 10 years in the post.
Mackenzie has previously been general director of the Manchester International Festival, artistic director of Chichester Festival Theatre and special advisor to the secretary of state for culture, media and sport.
Martijn Sanders, chairman of Holland Festival’s board, said: “It’s not an easy task to find a successor for a director such as Pierre Audi, who has now for almost ten years been an inspiring artistic leader of the Holland Festival. Therefore we are delighted to welcome Ruth Mackenzie as our new artistic director. She has the experience, the enthusiasm, the professionalism and commitment required for this position.”
