Robert Hardy will be replaced by Edward Fox in Peter Morgan’s The Audience, which is running at the Gielgud Theatre in London.

It was announced yesterday that Hardy had decided to withdraw from the show owing to a recent injury.

Fox will now take on his role as Winston Churchill.

The Audience is being produced by Matthew Byam Shaw for Playful Productions, Robert Fox and Andy Harries and is running at the Gielgud Theatre until June 15.

Director Stephen Daldry said: “We are incredibly fortunate that at very short notice Edward Fox has kindly agreed to step in. We are particularly lucky to find an actor of such stature and great authority to play Winston Churchill and we are delighted to welcome Edward to the company.”
