The British Council has partnered with the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage in Qatar to present the Middle East’s first ever arts and disability festival this month.
The festival features works from British deaf and disabled artists, including pieces from Unlimited, a large-scale showcase of disability arts, which was staged as part of the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad.
Claire Cunningham will perform Three, while choreographer Marc Brew will collaborate with percussionist Evelyn Glennie to create a new work for five dancers called Fusional Fragments.
The festival, which runs until March 31, is part of the Qatar UK 2013 Year of Culture, in which the two countries will create a programme of events together.
Meanwhile the British Council plans to create a two-year programme of works in the UK, Croatia, Greece and Portugal to raise awareness of disability arts across Europe
