Brighton Fringe announces 2013 line-up
Brighton Fringe has launched its 2013 programme, featuring 685 shows across 178 venues.
The event will run for an extra week this year – from May 4 to June 2 – and its theatre line-up will include Tanglehead’s production of the stage adaptation of The Graduate. Other plays to feature include Black Venus, which imagines a dinner between Hermann Goering and Josephine Baker during the Nazi occupation of Paris, and The Trench, about a miner who was entombed in a tunnel during the Second World War.
As revealed by The Stage, Brighton Fringe will also welcome back the Famous Spiegeltent, which will feature performances from La Clique. Meanwhile, its comedy line-up will include Late Night Gimp Fight and Phil Kay.
While the number of shows and venues are slightly down on the final number for the 2012 festival, Brighton Fringe managing director Julian Caddy explained: “It’s a work in progress at the moment as registrations do remain open online until, and indeed during, May. However, we remain ahead of the figures for last year at the same time.”
He added: “The key for me remains the quality of what’s on offer and there are some significant new shows in the programme for 2013 as well as 220 world premieres which is fantastic.”
