by -

Tim Rice’s musical From Here to Eternity will open at the Shaftesbury Theatre next year.

The production will be directed by Tamara Harvey and will open at the theatre on September 30, 2013, with press night on October 23.

It has lyrics by Rice and music by Stuart Brayson, with a book by Bill Oakes. The musical marks Brayson’s West End debut and Rice’s first stage musical in ten years.

From Here to Eternity, set on the Hawaiian island of Oahu in 1941, is based on James Jones’ novel of the same name.

In 1953 the novel was adapted into a film starring Burt Lancaster and Frank Sinatra. It won eight Academy Awards.

The stage show is produced by Rice and Lee Menzies for Eternity Productions Limited.
