Stars line up for Old Vic 24-hour musical
Jeff Goldblum, Amy Nuttal and Freddie Fox are set to appear in the 24 Hour Musicals Celebrity Gala, which is being held by the Old Vic Theatre in London next month.
The event, which will take place on December 9, will see performers, writers, composers and directors create a series of four musicals in 24 hours.
Funds raised through the gala will go to the Old Vic Theatre Trust, which supports the venue’s upkeep and its education and outreach programmes.
Previously, the venue has hosted the 24 Hour Plays Celebrity Gala event, but this is the first time that the theatre makers will produce musicals instead.
Also included in this year’s cast are actors Anthony Head, Colin Morgan, Laura Michelle Kelly, Jemima Rooper, Con O’Neill, Nigel Planer and Sharon Small. Richard Fleeshman, Julian Ovenden, Haydn Gwynne and Tracie Bennett will join too.
Comedian and actor Matt Lucas will host, while the venue’s artistic director Kevin Spacey will introduce the event.
The actors and theatre makers will meet the evening before the show to begin devising the musicals and will work through the night.
There will also be an auction available online, which will see experiences such as tea at the Ritz hotel with Stephen Fry and the opportunity to meet Spacey at an Old Vic opening night performance sold to bidders.
The 24 Hour Musicals Celebrity Gala is co-produced by the Old Vic Theatre and the 24 Hour Company. It is sponsored by drinks brand Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel and advisory firm Aqua Financial Solutions.
