Julie Walters, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Bonneville to appear in The Mousetrap anniversary performance
Julie Walters, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Bonneville are to star in a 60th anniversary performance of The Moustrap.
Joining them for this one-off event will be actors Tamsin Greig, Miranda Hart, Nicholas Farrell, Iain Glen and Harry Lloyd.
Directed by Phyllida Lloyd, the staged reading of Agatha Christie’s play will take place on November 18 at London’s St Martin’s Theatre.
The Mousetrap is the world’s longest continuous running stage production, for which it has won a Guinness World Record.
It was originally staged at London’s the Ambassadors Theatre in 1952 starring Richard Attenborough and his wife Sheila Sim in the lead roles.
After playing there for 21 years, it moved to the adjacent St Martin’s Theatre in 1973.
All proceeds from the anniversary performance – which has already sold out – will be donated to Mousetrap Theatre Projects, the theatre education charity seed-funded by the play.
The Mousetrap is produced by Stephen Waley-Cohen and continues to run at St Martin’s Theatre.
