Roger Allam to play Falstaff at Globe
Olivier Award-winning actor Roger Allam is to appear as Falstaff in Shakespeare’s Globe’s forthcoming productions of Henry IV Part 1 and 2.
Directed by the Globe’s artistic director Dominic Dromgoole, the cast will also feature Jamie Parker as Prince Hal, William Gaunt as Worcester in Part 1 and Shallow in Part 2 and Oliver Cotton as Henry IV.
Part 1 will play from June 6 to October 2, while Part 2 will join the repertoire from July 3 and play until October 3.
Shakespeare’s Globe’s Kings and Rogues theatre season also includes Shakespeare’s Macbeth, Henry VIII and The Merry Wives of Windsor. The South Bank venue will present two new plays â€“ Anne Boleyn by Howard Brenton and Bedlam by Nell Leyshon.
