Apollo Victoria to reunite Starlight Express for 80th gala
London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre is to celebrate its 80th anniversary with a gala performance featuring the cast of Wicked along with performers from one of its previous tenants – Starlight Express.
The show will take place on October 10 and is being created by Wicked’s UK associate director Petra Siniawiski and dance supervisor Adam Murray. It will feature a showcase of songs which have been performed on the theatre’s stage over its 80 years and all excess proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Cancer Research UK.
There will also be a raffle in support of the Entertainment Artiste’s Benevolent Fund on the evening itself.
As well as performers from Wicked past and present, including Lee Mead and Oliver Tompsett, the show will feature Sharon D Clarke, members of the original casts of Saturday Night Fever, Bombay Dreams, Movin’ Out and Jersey Boys, as well as Patina Miller from Sister Act and performers from the Apollo Victoria’s longest-running show Starlight Express.
