Creator of The Wire to talk at Edinburgh TV festival

David Simon, creator of US drama The Wire, is to deliver a masterclass at this year’s Edinburgh International Television Festival.

Simon, who works as a producer, journalist and author, will explain how his early career as a crime reporter for the Baltimore Sun has influenced his television work, including The Wire, which is currently being shown on BBC2.

Dominic West, who starred in the drama and in Channel 4’s The Devil’s Whore, will also be a guest at this year’s television festival, which will see BSkyB chairman James Murdoch chairman deliver the MacTaggart Lecture.
