I’d Do Anything runner-up Buckley to join Lipman in A Little Night Music
Maureen Lipman, Hannah Waddingham and I’d Do Anything runner-up Jessie Buckley have been announced among the cast of the forthcoming revival of Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
The production, which is directed by Trevor Nunn, will also feature Alex Hanson, who recently appeared in Marguerite at the Theatre Royal Haymarket, as Frederik.
Waddingham, who recently starred as the Lady of the Lake in Monty Python’s Spamalot, will play Desiree, while Buckley, who came second in the recent BBC talent show looking for someone to play Nancy in Cameron Mackintosh’s forthcoming revival of Oliver!, takes on the role of Anne. Lipman plays Mme Armfeldt.
Based on Ingmar Bergman’s film Smiles of a Summer Night, A Little Night Music is set in turn-of-the-century Sweden. The story centres on the liaisons between four couples over a midsummer weekend.
The show runs from November 22, 2008 to March 8, 2009. Press night is scheduled for December 3.
