Fisher to star alongside McGowan in Menier musical
Connie Fisher is to make her first major stage appearance since The Sound of Music in a revival of They’re Playing Our Song at the Menier Chocolate Factory.
The actress, who was the first performer to be cast through an Andrew Lloyd Webber TV talent show when she won How Do you Solve a Problem Like Maria?, will star alongside Alistair McGowan in the musical, which tells the semi-autobiographical story based on the relationship between composer Marvin Hamlisch and lyricist Carole Bayer Sager. It was first staged in London in 1980, in a production featuring Tom Conti and Gemma Craven.
Fiona Laird will direct this revival, which will run at the Menier from July 25 to September 28, with press night on August 4.
