Medcalf and Blackman to join West End’s Cabaret
Kim Medcalf, Honor Blackman and Francis Matthews are to join the cast of Cabaret at the Lyric Theatre from April.
Medcalf, who played Sam Mitchell in EastEnders and recently starred alongside Judi Dench in Hay Fever, takes over the lead role of Sally Bowles from Anna Maxwell Martin.
BAFTA award-winning actress Honor Blackman replaces Sheila Hancock as Fraulein Schneider, while Francis Matthews – Dr James Always in ITV1’s Heartbeat – plays Herr Schultz in place of Geoffrey Hutchings. The pair recently toured together in Roger Redfarn’s The King Fisher.
James Dreyfus, Michael Hayden, Harriet Thorpe and Andrew Maud all continue in the Olivier Award-winning show, which is directed by Rufus Norris.
