Mary Poppins to launch tour from Theatre Royal, Plymouth

by -

West End musical Mary Poppins is to embark on an international tour in 2008, with UK dates in Plymouth, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Manchester and Cardiff.

Following three and a half years and more than 1,000 performances at the Prince Edward Theatre in London, Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s production will finish its West End run on January 12, 2008.

The tour will open at the Theatre Royal Plymouth on June 4, 2008, where it plays until July 5, 2008. It will then visit Birmingham Hippodrome (July 10-September 27, 2008), Edinburgh Playhouse (October 1-December 6, 2008), Manchester Palace Theatre (December 10, 2008-March 7, 2009) and the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff (March 11-April 18, 2009). These are the only British dates the show can play as it is scheduled to open overseas in late summer 2009.

Casting has yet to be announced.
