East 15 director leaves for Arts Ed
John Baraldi has stepped down as director of East 15 drama school to take up the position of dean of Arts Educational Schools, London.
Baraldi has been director of East 15 for nine years and steered the school through its merger with the University of Essex in 2000. Prior to joining in 1998, he worked as a theatre director and writer, working at venues such as the Riverside Studios and The Roundhouse. Over the last nine years, the school has grown from 130 students with two courses to more than 400 students with nine courses. The process of appointing a new director is underway.
Ivor Crewe, vice-chancellor of the University of Essex, commented: “East 15 has flourished under John’s leadership, which firmly established its leading position among acting schools. I am sure I speak for everyone at East 15 in expressing my gratitude to John for his dedication to the school over many years and in wishing him every success for the future.”
