Theatre companies and individuals across the UK and globally are celebrated annually in The Stage Awards. The 2018 event took place at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, London on January 26.

Arcola Theatre, London, sustainability award
“We have been doing this for 10 years at the Arcola, and while it was a huge amount of work at the beginning, the really hard work is just keeping it going, so we are really chuffed. The next thing is thinking more about how we can get this more on the agenda, more widely, and how theatre can find a way to integrate sustainability. We should all be doing more, but I am really aware that there are a lot of theatres doing really good work [around sustainability] and we should definitely recognise that,” – Ben Todd, executive director, at the Arcola Theatre
Bridge Theatre, London, theatre building of the year
“This is the first award the Bridge has won, and it feels great. We know that live entertainment is really popular and it’s no surprise that theatre would be very popular in London, and I think London needs new theatres.
