Stemming from an early fascination with illusion and movement, Tom Wilkinson's work explores aspects of perceptual art. He uses wind power and electric motors to power his sculptures. He's particularly interested in persistance of vision (in its true sense - see the article on Grand Illusions) and kinetic energy and draws inspiration from physics and metaphysics.
Tom Wilkinson is co founder of the public art group Arts Republic (www.artsrepublic.co.uk) and is associate lecturer at UAL Wimbledon School of Art in Technical Arts and Special Effects.
