The Bhavan aka the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, is London's largest institute for Indian Arts & Culture training and performance, where students of today become the Gurus of tomorrow.
Established in 1938 in Mumbai, The Bhavan operates over a 100 centers in India. The Bhavan London is the first and largest branch outside of India, operating for over 30 years.
The Bhavan’s purpose is to preserve and share the beauty of India's culture, art and heritage. With over 23 courses in Indian classical music and dance, over 900 students and some of the UK's top instructors in India's classical art forms The Bhavan is achieving its aim.
Dance styles taught include Bharatanatyam dance from South India, Kathak dance from the north of India, Odissi dance from the eastern province of Orissa and Kuchipudi from the southern state of Andhra Pradesh. Yoga styles taught include Ashtanga, Hatha and Iyengar. Vocal music courses on offer include Karnatic Vocal, Hindustani Vocal and Bengali Music. Instrumental music courses feature Karnatic Violin, Mridangam and Tabla drums, Sitar, Flute and Vina. Languages taught include Sanskrit, Hindi, Bengali and Tamil and for the history buffs, Art History of India.
