John trained at Wimbledon School of Art working throughout the UK as a set and costume designer working for the Byre Theatre St. Andrews, Solent People’s Theatre and the Inner City Theatre Company.
For three years was John was Head of Design at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
John has a wide range of theatre successes to his name including his nine years at Alton Towers as show designer, creating parades, magic shows and ice shows, including Peter Rabbit on Ice.

Macbeth, The Comedy of Errors, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Much Ado About Nothing and Hamlet.
Other productions include Celtic Heartbeat. A Slice of Saturday Night and A Niel Simon Trilogy for Cunard and five cycles of the “Lichfield Mysteries”
John a has a wide portfolio of productions to his credit, the most recent being for the Lichfield Garrick Studio where he has designed Ladies Day, The Entertainer , The Blue Room & Haunting Julia and Educating Rita. Haunting Julia subsequently transferred to the Riverside Studios in Hammersmith and a national tour. John designed costume and set for Lichfield Garricks acclaimed productions of “A Christmas Carol” and “Alice in Wonderland” at the Lichfield Garrick and “SnowWhite and the Magic Mirror” at the Lichfield Garrick.
John manages a thriving studio in Staffordshire working with a wide range of makers and specialists offering a broad professional service to the theatre industry providing props and costumes for a number of venues and clients throughout the UK.
