Sparkling from head to toe, thanks to their intricate costumes and twinkling eyes, the celebrity stars of Strictly Come Dancing Live looked every inch the professionals when they took to the floor for the live show. Showcasing a range of skills, styles and emotions, they had the audience captivated from the first flamenco.
Host Kate Thornton literally shimmered - first in a stunning gold dress, and then a sequinned, full-length red number as she introduced each act.
Never once relinquishing their competitive spirit, stars including McFly drummer Harry Judd and Waterloo Road’s Chelsee Healey commanded the floor with confidence and class.
The judging panel of Craig Revel Horwood, Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli provided more innuendo than a Carry On film, but somehow it seemed appropriate in the glitter-drenched surroundings.
There was a hands-over-the-eyes moment when Jason Donovan dropped dance partner Kristina Rihanoff during the jive, but the faux-pas was handled with grace and professionalism.
Feisty Italian Nancy Dell’olio kept up the comedy levels with a trademark lack of rhythm and lack of awareness of her surroundings, while 2006 competitor and Olympic swimmer Mark Foster won more votes for his torso than his tango.
But their obvious enthusiasm was infectious and had all of the audience reaching for their phones when it came to the live text vote.
Current champion Harry Judd stole the crown on this occasion, but the whole cast stole the show - and proved that everything that glitters really is entertainment gold.
Production information can change over the run of the show.
