By eliminating outside influences and extracting just the main players from the fairy kingdom, Moon Fool and Trestle Touring have created a considered focus within A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

They construct an ethereal tangibility in which the characters of Oberon, Titania and Puck can be explored more fully and witnessed wholly within their world. In doing so, the Fairy King and Queen indulge in self-obsession with a passion and depth that is rarely, if ever, uncovered in a full production of the Dream.
The physicality of performance is powerfully executed by both Anna-Helena McLean and Christopher Sivertsen, with McLean expressing Titania’s mental strength and scheming sexuality with clarity and Sivertsen giving Oberon a gentle yet potent empowerment over the Fairy Kingdom.
Peter Swaffer-Reynolds takes on the role of master of ceremonies as Puck. As he literally sets the stage for the ritualistic floor show which is about to take place, his crackly voice and voyeuristic insight contain a sense of sinister foreboding and comic mockery as he knowledgably allows his masters to take centre stage.
Ian Morgan has been creatively resourceful in his strong direction of the production and the importance of music and movement is paramount in this devised piece of drama.
Production information can change over the run of the show.
