A glittering production complements one of Britain’s newest and most innovative theatres.
Heading a cast of high quality is Bernie Nolan, interrupting a nationwide tour with the Nolan Sisters to play the Fairy Godmother. Her appeal is immediate both in looks and singing ability and the children loved her from the off. Prince Charming (Simon Schofield) and Dandini (Scott Coldwell) stride the stage with regal aplomb and Jane Ledsom is excellent in the title role of Cinderella.
Comedy abounds, with much humour provided by the highly experienced Simon Bashford and Malcolm Lord as the overdressed and obnoxious Ugly Sisters, and particularly from the irascible puppet Basil Brush as Buttons - a wonderful piece of casting and proof that quality never fades.
Peter Whitfield is a bumbling but lovable Baron Hardup and the ensemble score with some fine dance and vocal routines.
An excellent production that will keep the tills ringing throughout Christmas.
