At last, a pantomime at the Broadway with true West End credentials. The slick professional cast work as a cohesive team to create an unforgettable spectacular with excellence, warmth and an intoxicating joie de vivre.
Ray Quinn’s Aladdin twinkles like a young David Essex and has the younger audience members squealing, while Brian Capron’s mischievous Abanazar flashes first-class sin from both darkly sequined eyebrows.
The show is swathed in a high production patina, including dazzling CGI effects. A shooting star delivers Faye Tozer to earth as the slave of the ring and like a diamond she sparkles, her stunning voice matched only by the rich, resonant chords of Gareth Richard’s flying Genie, their duet pure luxury for the ears.
From the excellent comedy duo of Gary Davies and Alex McNamara as Abu and Hakim to Fiona J Keats’ deliciously eccentric Empress and from Anthony Williams’ warm-hearted Widow Twankie to Chris Clarkson’s Wishee, every single member of cast excels with skill and distinction in this brilliant ensemble piece.
This quality pantomime casts a magical spell that will enchant one and all.
