Russell Howard Adventures

Published Tuesday 7 August 2007 at 12:15 by Duska Radosavljevic

Russell Howard comes out on the stage, says hello, takes one look at a perfectly random member of the audience and rattles off a string of hilarious imaginary scenarios barely pausing for breath in five minutes. And that’s before he’s even started on his scripted material. Predictably his scripted material is all about sex, the news and anal humour, all delivered with an unwavering level of energy and a sportsman-like alertness to his audience.

His satire is deeply scathing and unforgiving and he’ll even have a go at the members of his own family for their quirky misdemeanours. However, the closer he comes to the end of his show, the more he looks like the frolicking three year old from one of his jokes - fanciful and carefree. But there is a catch, perhaps caused by a prank played by his father one Christmas when as an eight year old he was almost left without his bike. Any ride with this comic wunderkind goes at breakneck speed, without much of a chance to take in the scenery.
