Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

First Family Entertainment’s production of Snow White is stamped with quality throughout. A first class script from Peter Denyer and Eric Potts, who know a deal about panto, forms the solid basis of its success.

Add Terry Parsons’ sumptuous scenery and fabulous costumes, plus a handful of glittering stars and you have the magic of traditional pantomime.

Television star Suranne Jones plays the title role and proves she can sing and dance as well. Ex Coronation Street colleague, John Savident, plays Herman the Henchman for laughs with some Corrie references.

Unfortunately comedian Justin Moorehouse, who plays Muddles, was plagued with a throat infection but Su Douglas makes a dastardly Wicked Queen and the Magic Mirror is most effectively realised.

Seasoned panto veteran, Warwick Davis, leads the excellent cast of seven dwarfs who were given decent material for a change and there’s a terrific diamond mine sketch in which nine-year-old Annabelle Davis nearly steals the show as Loopy.

Director Lisa Kent ensures that the live music fits in with the storyline and there was good choreography from Andrew Wright.

It looks good and it’s great fun.
