Dick Whittington

Derngate has a winner this Christmas with Dick Whittington starring Julian Clary. This is most definitely the best seasonal show from Derngate for a number of years.

Julian Clary is magnificent as Spirit of the Bells, his costumes fabulous and outrageous, and his showstopper Wanderin’ Star has to be seen to be believed.

Ben Evans is a real pop star idol of a Dick Whittington, and Laura Evans a pretty girl with a good singing voice.

Phillip Herbert’s King Rat is delightfully horrid, attracting a good booing factor, Ian Gledhill’s Captain Cockle wonderfully bumbling and Fogwell Flax a real star with his numerous impressions in the character of Winkle the Mate.

Tony Jackson’s Sarah the Cook is a real hoot and Maureen the Cat is loved by one and all.

Qdos Entertainment and Director Kenn Oldfield have put together a vibrant, very colourful, full of fun, show for all the family. My advice is don’t miss it, you will really enjoy it.
