ITV has commissioned a second series of its drama Mr Selfridge.
The first series, which launched in January this year, is currently averaging 8.5 million viewers, the broadcaster said.
It added that the second run will see Jeremy Piven reprise his role as Harry Gordon Selfridge and the show’s writing team will be led by Andrew Davies, Kate Brooke and Kate O’Riordan.
ITV has ordered ten new episodes, which begin filming in April and will be broadcast next year.
Steve November, acting director of drama commissioning, described the series as “drama at its best”.
It is being made by ITV Studios and executive produced by Kate Lewis, who said the second series would be a “fantastic opportunity to focus on 1914 during the centenary of the Great War”.
