Notting Hill’s Gate Theatre has launched an artist-in-residence scheme that will see visual artists create foyer installations to complement the venue’s productions.
The project is a collaboration between the Gate, Chelsea Space and Chelsea Arts Club Trust. It will see an artist twinned with each of the Gate’s five shows a year to create work that is a “bold, surprising and exciting response” to the theatre production.
Alice Stallard will be the theatre’s first artist in residence, working in tandem with the Gate’s production of Purple Heart by Bruce Norris, which starts its run on February 28.
Stallard is an artist illustrator based in Battersea, London.
