Producers of Aladdin – A Wish Come True starring Paul O’Grady at the O2 have cancelled tomorrow’s matinee to carry out “crucial technical works”.
Michael Rose and Chris Moreno, the producers, issued a statement which said “crucial technical work needs to be carried out on the mechanism that enables the magic carpet to fly during the show”.
“As with all state-of-the-art special effects, the mechanics have to be absolutely perfect down to the smallest detail. The technical work is necessary so that everything goes like clockwork during the show’s press night at 7.30pm tomorrow,” it added.
Rose said: “We are very sorry to cancel tomorrow’s matinee, but we felt it was important to make sure there were no hiccups ahead of tomorrow’s press night. We also believe that, if we didn’t do the necessary work tomorrow, the magic carpet may not have flown at the matinee performance either, and we really don’t want to disappoint the public.”
He said that anyone with tickets for the matinee would be accommodated “at another performance of their choice, subject to availability”.
