Salisbury Playhouse artistic director Gareth Machin will direct musical A Man of No Importance and J B Priestley’s Dangerous Corner as part of the venue’s 2013 spring and summer season.
Based on the Albert Finney film, A Man of No Importance has a book by Terrence McNally, music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and will run on the main stage from April 25 to May 18, 2013.
Dangerous Corner, which is programmed for the same space, will run from January 31 until February 23, 2013.
Meanwhile, the playhouse will co-produce the UK premiere of Nordost by Torsten Buchsteiner, with Company of Angels.
This is the venue’s second co-production with the theatre company and will include members of Stage ’65, the playhouse’s youth theatre, working alongside the professional cast. It will be directed by Adam Barnard in the Salberg Studio and will run from April 15 to 27, 2013.
Alan Ayckbourn’s comedy Joking Apart is also set to feature in the new season, from February 27 to March 23, 2013.
It will be directed by Lucy Pitman-Wallace and will be co-produced by the venue with Nottingham Playhouse Theatre Company.
