Russell Tovey has been cast in a new ITV sitcom called The Job Lot.
It is being made by Big Talk Productions, the company behind Rev, and will also star Sarah Hadland, who is best known for her appearances on Miranda.
It is set in a job centre in the West Midlands.
Big Talk chief executive Kenton Allen said: “The moment we read the script I immediately thought The Job Lot was a wonderfully warm comedy that brilliantly captured the spirit of these times. As a boy from Birmingham, it seems a very long time since we’ve had an original comedy from the beating heart of the UK.”
The Job Lot is written by Claire Downes, Ian Jarvis and Stuart Lane and it will be directed by Martin Dennis, whose credits include Friday Night Dinner.
It was commissioned by ITV director of comedy Elaine Bedell and commissioning editor for comedy, Myfanwy Moore.
