BBC3 has commissioned a two-part factual drama about a fatal car crash that devastates a small community.
The programme, which has the working title One Day Like This, is being made by Darlow Smithson and has been commissioned in conjunction with BBC Learning. BBC3 said the drama tells the story from the point of view of those involved in the collision and has been based on “extensive interviews and research”.
It will star Sasha Parkinson, Georgina Henshaw, Lily Loveless and Lewis Rainer.
BBC3 controller Zai Bennett said: “One Day Like This is a riveting and emotional narrative which was inspired by real-life events. It demonstrates BBC3’s unique role to produce thought-provoking drama specifically for young adults.”
The drama, to be broadcast next year, has been written by Terry Cafolla and will be directed by Sarah Walker.
