Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre has announced plans to stage productions of Pride and Prejudice and The Winter’s Tale next year.
The two shows will run alongside the previously announced To Kill a Mockingbird and The Sound of Music.
Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, has been dramatised by Simon Reade, former artistic director at the Bristol Old Vic. It will run at the theatre from June 20 until July 20, 2013.
Meanwhile, Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale will open at the venue on June 29, and run until July 20, 2013.
The theatre said the production will be “tailored specifically for children aged six and over”.
No cast or creative teams have yet been announced for either production.
Next year’s season at the theatre will open with To Kill a Mockingbird, directed by artistic director Timothy Sheader. It will run from May 16 until June 15.
The Sound of Music, directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, will close the season when it plays from July 25 until September 7.
Meanwhile, the venue’s Robert Atkins studio will this year host a Christmas cabaret event called A Fairytale of New York.
It will feature performers Rosalie Craig, Sandra Marvin and Hadley Frazer and takes place on December 11.
