Acclaimed writer and director Stephen Poliakoff has condemned the lack of one-off drama productions on television and has called on the BBC to move its 10 O’Clock News programme on Sundays to free up space in its timetable for high-profile TV plays. He said that reworking the schedule would lead to a renaissance in the Corporation’s drama and create more opportunities to broadcast two-hour or 90-minute productions.
