Plymouth Theatre Royal unveils £2.5m facelift

After 12 weeks of refurbishment, the Theatre Royal in Plymouth reopened its doors to the public this month to reveal its £2.5 million facelift.

The ceremonial ribbon was cut by Theatre Royal Councillor Nicky Wildy, chief executive Adrian Vinken and artistic director Simon Stokes to reveal a range of renovation work including new seating, carpeting, toilet facilities and front of house decor, and improved accessibility for the disabled. The theatre is continuing its fundraising scheme to find the remaining £5,000 to cover the cost of the renovation.

Vinken commented: “After three months of intense hard work and great teamwork, we’re delighted to be back and we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone to the new look Theatre Royal. The changes that have taken place are significant and I am sure our audiences will love the enhanced facilities we are now able to offer.”
